Welcome to the Seacoast Pathways Clubhouse Community

Seacoast Pathways - Transforming Lives Since 2014!

The international clubhouse model is bold and powerful, and Seacoast Pathways is one of 363 clubhouses worldwide that helps people get back on track with employment, returning to school, and fully integrating in their communities.

Seacoast Pathways’ supportive clubhouse environment is more than a “place to go” for those with mental illness or those affected by brain injuries.  We are a place to belong, find purpose, and experience hope.  We are an opportunity center for growth and friendship.

We're About Growth and Connection

At Seacoast Pathways, every day is a new opportunity for growth and connection. Clubhouse members and staff engage together in meaningful work activities that foster confidence and independence.

Our Impact

Clubhouses offer people living with mental illness and brain injuries hope and opportunities to achieve their full potential. Clubhouses around the world demonstrate that people with mental illness or brain injuries can successfully participate in society through education, employment, and other social activities. The personal stories of our members and their families and an increasing body of research provide evidence that Clubhouses provide a holistic, inspiring and cost-effective solution for people living with mental illness.

Clubhouse community members with brain injuries have shown improved safety-related behavior and reduced safety risk on twelve behaviors/activates after participating for at least six months.

Components of the Clubhouse

The daily activity of a Clubhouse is organized around a structured system known as the work-ordered day. The work-ordered day takes place during clubhouse house hours, and parallels the typical business hours of the working community where the Clubhouse is located.

Members and staff work side by side as colleagues to perform the work that is necessary for the Clubhouse programming and member goals. All of the work in the Clubhouse is for the Clubhouse and not for any outside agency or business. There are no clinical therapies or treatment-oriented programs in the Clubhouse. Members volunteer to participate as they feel ready and according to their individual interests.

The Clubhouse work includes cooking and cleaning, gardening, fundraising, research, assisting each other with housing, outreach, intake and orientation of new members, new staff orientation, evaluation of Clubhouse effectiveness, administering the employment programs, assistance with education, planning social activities, and assisting members to obtain services from the wider community.

The Clubhouse organizes structured and non-structured social activities for the members. These activities are always scheduled outside the work day. On evenings and weekends, members and staff have the opportunity to get to know each other outside the pressures of the Clubhouse work day.

The Clubhouse assists members to complete education that has been disrupted or to start certificate and degree programs at academic or adult education programs. The Clubhouse may also take advantage of the talents and skills of staff and members to provide in-house educational opportunities.

Members are given support in acquiring and keeping affordable housing, good mental health and general medical services, government disability benefits, and any other services they may need.

The Clubhouse reaches out to absent members who may be isolating or hospitalized.

Members and staff actively participate in decision-making, generally by consensus, regarding policy-making, future direction and development of the Clubhouse.

The Clubhouse supports members who have a desire to work, and we help members become successful employees.
